According to Commission Regulation EU 2019/1781, starting from first of July 2021 the efficiency of all three-phase electric motors from 0.75kW up to 1000kW included, at 2, 4, 6 and 8 poles will be minimum IE3; the electric motors from 0,12kW to 0,55kW included, at 2, 4, 6 and 8 poles have to be minimum IE2. This will be valid also for motors under drive speed control, brake motors and ATEX motors (only explosion proof Atex Ex eb and all single-phase motors are excluded).

Starting from first of July 2023 all explosion proof electric motors Atex Ex eb from 0.12kW to 1000kW included, at 2, 4, 6 and 8 poles, and all single-phase electric motors from 0.12kW have to be IE2 efficiency. A minimum efficiency level IE4 will be required for three-phase electric motors from 75kW to 200kW included, at 2, 4 and 6 poles, except brake motors and explosion proof Atex Ex be.
